IF YOU SHOULD FIND SOMEONE © 2008 E. J. Wahl

If you should find someone to help you
Through the lonely night
I just wanted you to know it would be all right
I just wanted you to know

Now you’ve got me thinking that I’m in an awful plight
I’m in a strange town and alone
How I’ve come to feel it and I wonder is it right
But you can go on knowing that

There are strangers abound, though the eyes can see
They’re hiding inside, they want to be free
They’re looking for your eyes, stabbing in the dark
Moving in a vacuum, naked, you’re a star

        Marvelously alone, enchantingly dead
Dyingly sad, sister, I can’t get ahead
I’d settle for love, I take what I get
There’s no harm in trying I said

If you should find someone to help you
Through the lonely night
I just wanted you to know it would be alright
I just wanted you to know

Now I sing to no one but you know the reason why
I didn’t want to be alone
I’m given courage by the fact that I will die
    Since you don’t love me

You can find somebody, see if I care
Of such a heartless person, I have to be aware
I know I’ve got time, it’ll heal all my wounds
No one knows my needs, but I’ll find somebody soon

I’ll look out for you, I won’t get involved
Keep your heart of stone, your problems are solved
I’ll meet you on the street, I won’t say hello
Make believe we’re strangers, though it hurts me
